Documenting the WWII Fallen of Toronto's Elementary Schools
Norway

Norway School, located at 390 Kingston Road, was originally a one room schoolhouse built in 1870 to educate the children of the village of Norway. A larger building was built in 1896 and wings were added as the neighbourhood population increased. An annex was built at the corner of Hayworth Crescent and Kingston Road in 1920, connected to the main building with an underground tunnel. In February 1942 a fire destroyed the top floor of the main building, and the school continued as one storey. The two buildings were in use until the current building opened in 1977, after which they were demolished. One part of the original building remains - the school name which is built into a wall at Kingston Road and Heyworth Crescent.
A World War I memorial plaque with no names hangs in the school along with an A.J. Casson illuminated World War II Honour Roll.
